Hello!
I'm Gabrielle and this is my first full day at math camp. This is also my first year. Today I was amazed at how my day is going so far. But first I need to tell you about basics. I live in a dorm room at Higgins hall on the 13 floor with my roommate Kristin who is very nice and she even came to camp last year! My counseler is Casey (hope I spelled that right) and she is sooo funny. Ok so how the day has gone so far. First I woke up and got ready and went to breakfastwith the other 12 girls at camp. At breakfast I had a bowl of cinnimon toast crunch, had some honey dew melon, 3 pieces of bacon, and apple juice. Then we headed over to Stipes to start our (math lesson). The two teachers we have are named Candy and Beth and they are awesome. They first introduced us to a girl mathimatian named Hypatia who live in greece in the anciet times.we also did a couple stories with holes. Now our (math lesson) is about to begin. We started by learning about doing linear equations on graphing calculators. ( I knew how to do linear equations and graph them but I now know how to do it on a calculator).Then we took a snack break and I had extra cheese gold fish and jouce. During our snack break we got to watch Numb3rs to see differnt hi-tech ways math is used. (To bad for me I had already seen that episode). Then we learned about the Fibonnaci sequence that goes like this(1,1,2,3,5,8,13,21,34,55,89,144). You add the number and the number before it to get the next number. Next we learned about the Golden Ratio which is a ratio that is the number phi which is aproximately 1.618. Then we went to the computer lab and made tesselations and know I'm working on my webpage. Now for last night. I arrived and made posters for my door mine says my name and has dragonflies on it. Then we got to have yummy pizza and cookis for dinner. Then we played games including the games where you toss abeach ball in the air and answer the question your finger is touching. Then we plaed a game when you hold hands and pass the hullahop around. My team lost but we still had fun. Then we had to cross the peanutbutter river with only 4 pices of foam and 4 people. Our team won both times so I got a prize. I chose a smiley face beach ball. Then we went back to the 13 floor and you could either watch the movie Gracie or play guitar hero or DDR. I chose to play games. but first I took a shower so I did not have to take one in the morning. We had to go to our rooms at 10:00 but I could not get to sleep for awhile.

Hola. Last night we made an awesome craft. We made tote bags with piant pens, foam, iron ons, and fring. Then we got ready for swimming and went to dinner. Right after dinner we went swimming. We got the whole pool to ourselves but we had to take a swim test to go in the deep end. I passed(of course). Then we went back to Higgins Hall and I played Twister and finnished my tote bag.Then we went to bed at 10:00(well I also took a shower). I woke up at 6:40 and got ready for the busy day ahead of me.We went to breakfast and headed over to Stipes to start learning about math. First we did our daily routine including stories with holes and learning about a female mathematian named Augusta Ada Lovelace. Then we learned about fractal geometry using broccoli. Then we played the game Mastermind to practice pattern creating and figuring out patterns. Then we had gold fish for snack. mAnd of course during snack time we watched numb3rs. Then Stephanie Jones came in and tought us about engineering. She even had us make slime. Then we had fried chicken as well as mashed potatoes, beans, veggies, and dessert for lunch. Then we made 3-D polydrons.Now we are in the computer lab working on our websites.Bye for now.
